Dragon Lights Albuquerque, previously known as the magical New Mexico Chinese Lantern Festival, will return to Expo New Mexico this year from October 5th to December 2nd with brand new displays, performances, handicrafts, and cultural activities for the whole family to enjoy. This 8-week event will wow visitors of all ages. With tickets starting at only $12, Dragon Lights Albuquerque is an experience you won't want to miss!

Dragon Lights Albuquerque will illuminate Expo New Mexico with larger-than-life lantern displays. Each lantern is handcrafted by our team of artisans from Zigong, China, which is regarded as China’s cultural capital for the ancient art of lantern-crafting.
In addition to lanterns, nightly performances, and handicrafts, food, beverages, and merchandise will be available for purchase. Our menu includes a variety of Chinese food, traditional fair food, and assorted beverages.

Friday and Saturday: 6:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM
Please note that we are closed on Mondays. Our beer garden is open from Friday to Sunday.

Where is this event being held and is there parking available?
Dragon Lights Albuquerque will be held at Expo New Mexico located at 300 San Pedro Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.Parking is available at Expo New Mexico.
Where can I purchase tickets?
Tickets will be available for purchase at the festival entrance or online at www.dragonlightsabq.com. Tickets are also sold at Chinese Culture Center.
What does the price of admission include?
Admission includes entry into the festival for viewing all lanterns, authentic Chinese performances, and handicraft demonstrations. Merchandise and food are sold separately.
Parking will be charged separately by Expo New Mexico at $5.00/car and cash only.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
You may either buy tickets in advance online or at the entrance. To avoid ticket lines on more crowded days, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance. Visitors buying tickets online also enjoy a $1.00 off discount.
Are there any discounts available?
es, we have senior and military discounts available daily. Discounted tickets are $14.00 online and $15.00 at the box office. A valid Military ID is required. Military discounts apply to both veterans and military spouses. For groups of 15 people and more, we offer a discount of $2 off each individual ticket.
Student discounts are available every Thursday for $14.00 online and $15.00 at the box office. A valid student ID is required.
What are the festival hours?
The festival is open Tuesday to Sunday from 6:00PM - to 10:00PM. The ticket booth opens at 6:00PM and closes at 9:30pm. The festival is closed on Mondays.
Is this an indoor or outdoor event?
All lantern displays are outdoor and it is a walk through experience. In the event of inclement weather when the festival has to be cancelled or closed early for the night, rain checks will be offered.
Can I photograph the lanterns?
Photography of the displays and performances is allowed but please do not touch, climb on, or go over rope lines around displays. By attending the event, you give permission to have your image and/or likeness reproduced for promotional and/or advertising purposes and/or by the media in print or digital formats.
What is your ticket policy?
Tickets can be purchased both online and at the door. Online tickets are all date specific. All ticket sales are final.
The festival is open rain or shine, but may close in case of inclement weather. We will announce all weather closures on our website and social media as soon as information becomes available. Please check online or call before visiting if you are concerned about weather conditions.
In case of inclement weather where the festival is cancelled or closes early, ticket rain checks will be offered.
Can I reenter the festival on the same day if I must leave?
Yes, visitors can re-enter the festival on the same day by getting a hand stamp upon exiting the grounds.
Is everything cash only?
We accept both cash and credit cards at our box office and merchandise stands. Some food vendors may take cash only. ATM machines will be available onsite.
Do I have to print my online ticket?
We can scan the ticket off your phone, but it is recommended that you print your tickets. You can print it on both sides!
Can I bring in food or drinks?
No, with some exceptions. Baby formula is allowed, along with certain other exceptions for individuals with medical and special needs. You may bring sealed plastic water bottles, one per person, that can be filled utilizing water fountains located throughout the fairgrounds.
Are pets allowed?
Service dogs are allowed if they are on a leash.
Are firearms or other weapons allowed when attending Dragon Lights?
No person is allowed on Expo New Mexico Fairgrounds with a deadly weapon, concealed or not. Violators will be removed by law enforcement. NMAC 188.8.131.52
Is smoking permitted on the fairgrounds?
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas.
Tickets are available both online and at the door. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance to guarantee festival entry and to avoid the $1 box office surcharge.
